IR by Global Caché or Crestron
Where: Configurator → Room Devices → the room → the source's port → IR
Two ways to send IR
A set-top box or an AC with only an IR remote can be sent IR by:
- Crestron — the hub presses a Crestron join; the Crestron program fires the IR.
- Global Caché — the hub sends the IR code straight to the Global Caché unit on the house network (port 4998). No Crestron needed. It works in a KNX-only home too.
Models: iTach IP2IR, GC-100-06, GC-100-12, Global Connect / Flex. Each unit has IR ports 1–3.
Where the codes live
- The Global Caché unit stores no codes.
- The codes are kept in the home's project, per button.
- At Save & Deploy the codes go to the hub. When you press a button, the hub sends that code.
- Learn each button. Ready-made codes are not available yet.
Code formats accepted
- A Global Caché sendir line, or only its numbers (frequency, repeat, offset, pulses).
- Pronto hex that starts with
0000(learned Pronto). Other Pronto codes are refused.
Each code is checked before it is kept. A bad code is not kept and the reason is shown, for example carrier frequency outside 15–500 kHz.
Set up a set-top box by Global Caché
- Open Room Devices, the room's TV or amplifier, and the port tile of the source.
- Choose IR.
- Press the IR · … button to open the IR pop-up.
- IR sent by: choose Global Caché.
- Unit: pick the unit, or + New Global Caché unit…. Fill Name, Model, Address (for example 192.168.1.40). Press Add.
- IR port: the port where the IR emitter is plugged (Port 1–Port 3).
- For each button, press Learn. Point the remote at the Global Caché, press the button, and paste the code it learned. Press Keep code.
- Press Done. Then Save & Deploy.
Each button shows ✓ code, learned, missing or bad code. The phone remote shows only buttons that have a code.
Air conditioner by IR
- In Room Devices, the AC: System → IR.
- IR sent by: Global Caché or Crestron.
- Fill the code table: tabs Cool · Heat · Dry · Fan · Auto · Power off. Each cell is one temperature (16–30) × one fan speed (Low, Mid, High, Auto).
- With Global Caché, a cell holds an IR code.
- With Crestron, a cell holds the join that fires that code.
- Save & Deploy.
An IR AC never reports back. The app shows what was last sent, with an IR badge. The hub sends the full code for the state on screen (for example 23 · Cool · Mid). A missing code is refused: the app shows Couldn't send.
If it goes wrong
- Check the unit Address is right and the unit is on the house network.
- Check the emitter is on the IR port you chose.
- Button shows missing or bad code: learn it again.
- connector … is busy: the unit is sending another code. Try again.
- this Global Caché model cannot learn IR: learn with another unit.
- Still failing? Ask at help.luxelifeapp.com with the room and button.
