PINs and roles
Each person who uses the app has a role and a 4-digit PIN. They are set on the Users step and go out with Deploy. Facts are from configurator v3.322. Never write a real PIN in a ticket, a chat or a help note.
Roles
- Admin and Limited are the two roles for a person (the switch on each person's card).
- The first person added is Admin and is the owner: the owner always gets login codes and needs an e-mail.
- Making someone Admin ticks them into every room that is shown only to some people. You can untick rooms afterwards. The role itself never grants rooms.
- Guest is not a person. It is one shared PIN for visitors, with no e-mail and no login codes. Emptying the Guest PIN removes the guest.
PINs
- A PIN is exactly 4 digits.
- The configurator never keeps the PIN in the clear: it is removed from every save and every exported file. What is kept is a scrambled code that cannot be turned back into the PIN. The hub checks the PIN against it.
- Change only opens the box. Your old PIN stays until a new 4-digit PIN is typed. Leaving the box empty cancels the change.
- Show shows the saved PIN for 10 seconds, then hides it. Each Show is logged. Only the person editing the project can use it.
Login codes and e-mail
- Can get login codes needs an e-mail. Without one, it is off and grey. The owner is always on.
- Two people may not share a name, and two people may not share an e-mail.
Home settings on the Users step
- Ask an admin to approve each new phone: on by default. A guest phone's approval lasts 7 days.
- Offer a new app version up to N times a day: 1 to 6, default 3.
What Deploy checks
Deploy refuses, and names the person, when:
- someone has no PIN (Set a 4-digit PIN for …),
- two people share a name or an e-mail,
- the owner has no e-mail.
Deploy is also stopped by missing AC modes, missing AC fan speeds, or a missing KNX fan type. Nothing else that is incomplete stops Deploy.
The Deploy card shows People getting a login with the number of admins and limited people. The Deploy blocks box has Go there →, which opens the field to fix.
