Generate names / Replace all…

Screen: Room Devices (step 5 of 7) — the header of the Lights or Curtains card.

What it is

A button in the card header. It fills the Shown on the phone as names from the imported names. It strips the floor name, the room name and the floor's short forms. With empty names it reads Generate names · N (N = how many it will fill). With none empty it reads Replace all….

What to enter

1. Set the floor's short forms on Rooms first, if you use them.
2. Press Generate names · N. Only the empty names are filled.
3. To redo every name, press Replace all… and confirm. Names you typed are replaced.

What it changes

In the house: The project saves this by itself. It reaches the house and the phones at the next Save & Deploy. The hub's device list uses the new names for display only. Device identity does not change.

In the app: Each light or curtain shows the new name on its tile.

If it goes wrong

• A row whose generated name would match another row is skipped. Its hint turns red: name it by hand.
• Replace all… cannot be undone. Type the names back, or reopen an earlier version from the history.
