Fan name

What it is

The fan's name. It is also the key the hub knows the fan by. A fan from the ETS import is named in Device Import and shows here as text.

What to enter

A short name, for example Ceiling fan.

What it changes

In the house: The project saves this by itself. At the next Save & Deploy the hub knows the fan by this name. If you rename it, the hub gets the new name.

In the app: The phone shows this name unless Shown on the phone as is filled.

If it goes wrong

• Give each fan in a room its own name: the hub tells fans apart by name, so two with one name are one fan to it.
• Renaming a fan after it is set up gives the hub a new name for it; scenes or shortcuts that used the old name need checking.
